I was born and raised in Delhi, India. I got my BA in Sanskrit and MA and MPhil in Linguistics from Delhi. Then I live in York, UK where I was taking graduate classes and teaching Hindi. I then moved to the US 19 years ago. I got my PhD in Linguistics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I also taught Hindi at UIUC to undergraduate and graduate students for many years. I work as a Linguistics consultant and my main interests are in Phonetics, Phonology, Intonation and Second Language Acquisition. I recently published a book as an editor on Pidgin and Creole languages and have published many academic papers in peer reviewed journals. I love languages and love the process of teaching. I have a teenaged daughter and a very sweet dog. I love to do arts and crafts, watch movies, gardening, and travel. Most recently, I am working on resin jewelry and landscape paintings.
