LanguageBird’s Summer 2024 Educational Travel Opportunity!

Registration is now closed. Please check back at a later date for future travel opportunities!

LanguageBird strongly believes this travel abroad experience will foster global awareness and broaden student’s horizons by:

  • Earning college credit through George Mason University.
  • Gaining cultural experience and expanding their language skills through daily instructional classes and interactions with native speakers.
  • Becoming more independent through exposure to different ideas and local ways of life.

Students will still have sufficient time to enroll and take a LanguageBird course before or after travel and have the additional option to gain high school or university credit from George Mason University for the time spent abroad. This is a wonderful opportunity to put their language skills to the test with native speakers and make memories of a lifetime! To read more about credit opportunities, scroll down.

Students DO NOT have to be enrolled at LanguageBird to participate and are encouraged to invite their friends to join.

Earn Academic Credit – Global Competence

Students! You can register for Discovery for Credit coursework before, during, or after the travel portion of the program. Courses consist of the travel portion of the program combined with an online course. Most assignments are designed to be completed after travel since they ask that you incorporate much of what you learned during the field experience. We encourage you to log on before travel, if time permits, to get a feel for the course and explore its components. There is a 6-month deadline from the return date of travel to complete all online assignments. Upon successful completion and the processing of credits, a transcript may be ordered directly from WorldStrides or George Mason University. Transcripts can be submitted to school registrars for consideration or attached separately to college applications or résumés. Students and educators should check with receiving institutions with regard to credit transfer policies. WorldStrides holds accreditation through multiple regional agencies, including both corporate-level and school-level accreditation through Cognia (formerly AdvancED). This enables our traveling students to earn academic credit in conjunction with travel programs.

To get a more detailed overview of the academics and credits, click “Academic Credit Overview” below. To learn more about earning credit and how to register, click “Earn Academic Credit” below.
