Hello! My name is Rodrigo, and I am a Deaf teacher and lifelong advocate for language, accessibility, and the Deaf community. I am from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas and am passionate about sharing American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf culture with students of all ages.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education and a master’s degree in International Development from Gallaudet University. I have experience teaching ASL and working with diverse communities, and I recently completed the International Deaf Youth Leadership Program at Castberggård in Denmark. Living and studying abroad gave me the opportunity to connect with Deaf people from around the world and deepen my appreciation for different languages, cultures, and ways of communicating.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging, interactive, and fun. I believe learning ASL should be about more than memorizing signs; it should also be an opportunity to explore Deaf culture, communication, and self-expression. I enjoy creating engaging lessons that help students feel confident and excited about learning.
A fun fact about me is that I had the opportunity to intern at the White House! I also love traveling and have lived and studied internationally. In my free time, I enjoy biking, photography, editing, volunteering, and gardening.
