Hello! I’m Dr. Dorsey, and I’m so excited to share my love of American Sign Language (ASL) with you!
I started learning ASL in 10th grade in 2009, and it was love at first sign! Since then, ASL has become a huge part of my life. I spent three years teaching ASL 1–3 in a traditional classroom and leading ASL Honor Society. I’m also currently pursuing my ASL interpreting certification.
Language is important to me because it allows us to communicate, connect, and relate to the world around us. I’m fluent in Spanish and am currently learning Egyptian Arabic and Australian Sign Language (Auslan). I hold a B.A. in Theatre Arts, an M.B.A., and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. My background in theatre and education reflects my love of storytelling, creativity, and finding unique pathways to learning.
My goal is to facilitate communication and enrich human experiences through education. I believe learning ASL should be engaging, meaningful, and connected to your interests. Whether you’re learning to communicate with someone who is Deaf, exploring a new language, or simply curious about ASL, I’m excited to help you build confidence and discover new ways to connect.
Outside of teaching, I’m an avid gamer, a lover of pizza, and someone who prefers cold weather over hot! I’m also the president of Theatre Tampa Bay and love traveling, exploring new cultures, and discovering new ways to communicate.
I can’t wait to meet you and start signing together!
