Hello! My name is Becca. I was born Deaf, and American Sign Language (ASL) is my first language. My parents learned sign language when they discovered that my older sister was also Deaf. Because of that, I was fortunate to grow up in a home where ASL was already the primary language of communication. Throughout my childhood, I had ASL interpreters for every activity I participated in—sports, dance, theatre, and in the classroom. Later, I transferred to a school for the Deaf, where I had the opportunity to communicate directly in ASL with my peers, teachers, and coaches. I went on to graduate from the world’s only all-Deaf university. I currently hold a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Psychology.
My lifelong immersion in American Sign Language has given me a deep appreciation for its creativity, expression, and playfulness. I’m excited to guide students on an engaging and eye-opening journey while creating a supportive space where we can learn and grow together through ASL.
