Alex B.
Hello! My name is Alex, and I’m from Florida. I fell in love with the Italian language as a freshman at Florida State University, where I began studying it because I wanted to speak with my Italian family. I went on to major in Italian and earned my master’s degree in Italian Studies from FSU.
I studied abroad in Perugia, Italy (a city in Umbria), and thrived while immersing myself in the Italian language and culture. I learned so much living in Italy that I had never learned in the classroom and was surprised by how many important things I hadn’t been taught. I’m determined to give students all the tools they need to succeed in Italy so they can have a smooth transition and a great experience.
During my M.A. program, I had the opportunity to teach undergraduate Italian courses and loved connecting with students through Italian music and pop culture. My lessons will likely include the occasional music video or Instagram post so we can learn from real-world examples and experience the culture firsthand.
As a native English speaker and a student of Italian myself, I bring a helpful perspective to the challenges of learning the language, along with a deep passion for all things Italian. I believe a great instructor inspires genuine interest in the subject matter, and I love designing lessons tailored to my students’ individual interests. I can’t wait to join you on your Italian language journey!
