Hello! My name is Gaby, and I am a passionate German teacher based in Canada. I was born and raised in Germany, in the North Rhine-Westphalia region, and moved to Canada with my young family in 1990. I have proudly called Canada home ever since.

My journey into teaching began through volunteering at my children’s school, where I connected with many families who, like me, were navigating a new culture and language. This experience showed me how powerful language learning can be in building community and confidence.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo, which has greatly influenced my teaching approach. I focus on understanding each learner’s needs and creating a supportive, engaging environment.

Over the years, I have traveled extensively across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, developing a special appreciation for Chinese culture. These experiences have deepened my love for languages and intercultural learning. I have also continued my professional development through courses at the Goethe-Institut and ongoing training with TELC, staying up to date with current exam formats and teaching methods.

With over 20 years of experience teaching German at all levels, I bring both expertise and enthusiasm to every lesson. I have a strong interest in German literature and poetry, in both German and English, which I love incorporating into my teaching when appropriate.

I currently live in the beautiful countryside of Ontario, where I enjoy running, traveling, and continuing my own language studies.

My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and tailored to each student. I strive to make every lesson interesting, interactive, and meaningful.
