Bonjour, Hola, Hello! My name is Madeleine and I am an Admissions and Outreach Advisor with LanguageBird. I am so thrilled to be part of this team and to help instill a passion for foreign language in prospective students.

I have previously worked in program management, helping Veterans and their spouses apply for VA benefits. I reside in St. Louis, Missouri and have spent time volunteering to teach English to the immigrant and refugee population.

My interest in language began at a young age taking French classes and followed me through college, where I majored in both International Studies and French at Washington University in St. Louis. I believe that the pursuit of a foreign language has utility far beyond classroom settings or college admissions; foreign language allows students to become more empathetic and grow skills in critical thinking, active listening, and adaptability. The invaluable confidence one receives from engaging with a native speaker in the target language follows through all areas of life.

Cultural exploration and understanding are additional passions of mine. Besides learning language, I think that food is a great portal into any culture. I love to cook, bake, and try new cuisines and restaurants. If you cannot travel to a particular country or region, sampling their food is one of the next best things!
