Sujin H.
I was born in Seoul, South Korea, during the country’s remarkable economic boom known as the ‘Miracle of the Han River’. After graduating from Hongik University with a business administration degree, my path took an unexpected turn, leading me to discover a passion for education. In Korea I was a private academy instructor and math tutor for university entrance exams.
In 2005, I relocated to America, where I’ve spent the last 18 years teaching in Texas public schools. My childhood dream of “traveling around the world” began with a trip to China in 2000. My childhood dream of “traveling around the world” began with a trip to China in 2000, and in 2013, I fulfilled my dream of exploring all six continents (Korea doesn’t recognize Antarctica as a continent so there are only 6 continents, but now that I am a US citizen, Antarctica is on my list). I’ve now journeyed to over 50 countries, embracing diverse cultures along the way. My motto, “There are many places to go even if there is no one calling,” embodies my adventurous spirit and openness to new experiences.
Since 2005, I’ve had the privilege of sharing my love for the Korean language and culture with American students. I’m excited to continue fostering curiosity, understanding, and a lifelong love of learning in the classroom.
