Jens L.
Hello! I am Jens, and I have been teaching German and English for quite a few years now. Teaching and coaching seem to be my passions because I am still enjoying them after all this time. Raised in the country of former Eastern Germany, and having received an education in Germany, Canada, and South America, as well as having lived on most continents, I feel fortunate to have experienced so many cultures, ways of living, and approaches to learning.
My background is actually in civil and military engineering, logistics, and humanitarian aid, but many years ago, all of those experiences led me to teaching and coaching. They also helped me understand that every person is not only an individual but learns in individual ways—and exactly that seems to be both the challenge and the beauty of it. Thanks to my life’s journey so far, I am happy to pass on many of the skills and experiences I have acquired to all learners of languages.
In my free time, the topic of languages is never far away. We are a family of teachers, and our young son is somewhat of an experiment when it comes to learning—not only languages but life in general. No worries, it’s a safe experiment, as it mostly involves observing and supporting 😉 Swimming and sports also play a big role in my free time, along with observing and caring for nature. Two other passions are astronomy and philosophy, which to me go hand in hand.
Success, to me, is if at the end of the day (or a lesson) a pupil is able to apply what they have just learned and is looking forward to the following lesson. In this spirit, let’s get started!
