Rebecca R.
Greetings! My name is Rebecca R. ASL students may address me using my ASL sign name or by writing/saying Dr. RA (“Doctor Rah”).
I hold an AS in Deaf Studies, a BA in Deaf Education, an MEd in Technology in Education, a Post-Master’s Certificate in College Teaching, and a PhD in Philosophy in Education. As you can probably tell, I truly love learning.
Even more than that, I love teaching! This is my 18th year in education, and I have had the privilege of working as a Teacher of the Deaf with D/deaf students across all grade levels—from preschool through high school—in both schools for the Deaf and public school settings. I have taught high school ASL Levels 1–4, including dual-enrollment courses, and have guided many students toward earning the Seal of Biliteracy on their high school diplomas. I am also grateful and humbled to have served as an ASL adjunct professor for several semesters at the University of Connecticut.
I am hearing, but I live in an ASL-signing household; ASL is part of my daily life. I hold deep respect for the Deaf community and am genuinely excited to support and guide you on your ASL journey.
Finally, I will leave you with two core beliefs I live by:
It’s all about human kindness, and
Dunkin’ coffee is CHAMP.
