Meara G.
My name is Meara and I am the Head of School at LanguageBird. I received a B.A. in psychology with minors in French and Africana Studies from the College of the Holy Cross and an M.S. in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University.
I was born and raised in Albany, NY and currently reside in Falls Church, VA, just outside of Washington, D.C. I have worked in education for over 15 years in a variety of settings, including teaching French to students from elementary-age to adult and serving as a school leader at 1-to-1 and alternative schools. My personal experiences traveling and learning language as well as my passion for inspiring engagement, critical thinking, cultural competence, and lifelong learning in students drew me to LanguageBird’s wonderful team and mission.
Some fun facts about me are that I studied abroad for a year in Cameroon and that I have run many half marathons and two Ragnar Relays. When not at work, I can be found with my husband chasing after our two young daughters, exploring new places, enjoying the outdoors, and continuing to learn Spanish, especially so I can converse better with my husband’s family from Mexico!
