Taya D.

LanguageBird Spanish Instructor

¡Hola a todos! I’m Taya, a native-level speaker of Spanish originally from the UK and a qualified Online English and Spanish language tutor based in Toledo, Spain.

Since my first exposure to Spanish in high school it quickly became my biggest passion and I set myself the goal of becoming fluent, taking me to study Hispanic Studies at University and spend my summers between Spain and Portugal teaching, au pairing and completing an integrated Year Abroad interning in Barcelona.

Upon graduating and obtaining my language teaching certificate I followed my heart back to Spain to set up life. Following an initial career as a digital and social marketer, and having reached my goal of becoming a fluent and integrated member of Spanish society, it is now my greatest pleasure and motivation to help others attain such autonomy and enjoyment out of such a rich language and culture.

My own experience as a language learner means that I know what it takes and what hurdles, both academic and mental, to expect (and overcome!) along the way. I’m an enthusiastic and friendly professional, passionate about my subject area and helping students to improve their language skills through a journey tailored to their needs and interests. I pride myself on making my classes dynamic and interactive so it hardly feels like studying!

In my free time I enjoy practicing yoga and improving my roller skating skills. I love travelling and getting lost in the streets of new places with my camera, soaking up the energy and culture of new communities. Having grown up in the English countryside, I’m also big on nature and a keen hiker. But of course, nothing makes me happier than speaking in Spanish out in the world and making meaningful connections with others.

I can’t wait to meet you and start this exciting journey together where I’ll strive to make you enjoy the Spanish language and culture as much as I do, and in a way that’s personal and fun to you.
