Hello, my name is Jamie Hartford and I am excited to be your foreign language tutor! All throughout my life I have been learning languages. I am half Chinese and Korean, therefore I can speak both Korean and Chinese. And fourteen years ago when I moved to the US I started learning English. Therefore, I understand what it is like to learn a new language and the frustration and headache that comes with it. However the feeling of knowing another language is a rewarding feeling. During my undergrad I majored in East Asian Studies focused on Korean and Chinese. In addition, I received my Master’s degree in Korean studies. I absolutely love Korean culture. Therefore, I plan to receive a second MA in Korean language and culture at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I believe when we pick up another language, we are not just learning the language, but also their culture. Thus, I do have one, but there cultures in me. Over the past two years, I have had an amazing opportunity of teaching Korean and Chinese online to student of all ages. Teaching languages is seriously one of best jobs because every day I get to do what I love. Furthermore, I get to meet all kinds of new students. Let’s study language together!
