Shalom! My name is Hana, and I’m really excited to be with you on this next step in your Hebrew learning journey.
I’m bilingual, speaking English and Russian from home, and I am a life-long student of the Hebrew language. I am originally from the Far East in Russia where I pursued my passion for learning and teaching languages and cultures and completed an M.A. program in Linguistics and Education in English and German. At the same time, I was teaching Hebrew at a local class for future immigrants to Israel.
Following my dream, I moved to Jerusalem in Israel, and have lived there for over 8 years before relocating to the States. During those years, I graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a Master of Arts in Israeli Folklore and Folk Studies, attended a one-year program at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, taught English and Hebrew at private schools and online. I’ve also staffed youth trips to Israel and travelled the country north to south, enjoying the land and the language that was revived by its people. The cross-cultural experience that I have makes me a professional and dynamic teacher. I believe that learning should be more relaxed, fun and focused on the student experiencing the language in its authentic context.
Hebrew is an amazing example of a dramatic revival of a language that is both holy and also spoken in the academia and out in the streets. I’d very much like to share the beauty of this language with you and help you communicate with the fascinating culture it represents.
