Hello, my name is Nic Artese. I was born in Detroit, Michigan. My parents discovered I was deaf when I was a year old. I grew up attending a mainstream program in school. ASL is my first language but I grew up learning both English and ASL. When I attending school I, along with the other deaf and hard of hearing kids, relied upon an interpreter in school. I graduated from California State University with a bachelors degree in Deaf Studies and American Sign Language. I also have a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership Studies. I have been teaching ASL since 2008 to hearing student in the Interpreter Training Program. Teaching students how to communicate and how to handle real world situations is something I really enjoy.
